'Love' without Love

Relationship of convenience is a relationship between a man and a woman which isn't based on love; moreover, there is no mutual love existing in such relationship.

The notion of a relationship of convenience implies the fact that the key word is 'convenience', not 'relationship'.

What exactly does it mean? It means that two people - man and woman (typically traditionally) unite in a relationship just because it's convenient for them to be together.

When there are no feelings within the married couple or even if convenience is craved by one of the partners only and the other is blissfully ignorant of it, marriage starts weighing upon you like a heavy dark cloud almost since the very moment when you act out your wedding vows to each other. Such relationship makes a person weak, empty and apathetic.

MOC: Mistake or Best Option?

Although after the first sight at the issue of marriages of convenience we would invariably arrive at a conclusion that such easy but sleazy way to look for convenience, comfort and/or luxury brings nothing good to anyone. However, so many people so many opinions based on myriad of experiences.

So what are the arguments against marriages of convenience? They are obvious. Living with a person who is now your spouse (supposed to be beloved) without having any special feelings to him or her sounds quite immoral and abnormal. People base their relationship (let alone marriage) on love, while where there's no love there's no trust or mutual understanding either. Marriage of convenience becomes true burden and unbearable to partners who don't feel love towards their spouses. The list of arguments to express a strong protest against marriages of convenience could go on forever.

Some people may say there are advantages of 'loving' without love. There is a theory according to which great love scarcely contributes to people preserving their relationship within a solid marriage; on the contrary, loving someone like crazy only prevents people from having a stable relationship based on mutual respect, calm and sensible feelings which are too steady and logical to be called love but still they are a fine foundation for a long-term relationship – the one that crowns a happy marriage which is scarcely broken by partners' wild jealousy or mutual reproaches resulting from way too powerful passion.
